Growing Vegetables

‘Foods in Season’ has always been one of my favourite sayings, and it is so true where vegetables are concerned. The thought of wishy washy strawberries that have travelled across half the globe does not appeal to me at all. The thought of stepping out into the garden to pick fresh, juicy strawberries in the summer or pulling up fragrant celeriac in the winter sets my taste buds tingling. Even with a small garden it is possible to grow enough produce to have something fresh most of the year round. Growing your own food is one of the most satisfying parts of gardening. Your first year of vegetable gardening might leave you with some gaps in your diet which have to be filled from the local market but once you get going it won’t be an issue.
